World Teachers’ Day 2016

UNESCO proclaimed 5 October to be in 1994, celebrating the great step made for teachers on 5 October 1966, when a special intergovernmental conference convened by UNESCO in Paris adopted the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, in cooperation with the ILO.

This recommendation sets forth the rights and responsibilities of teachers as well as international standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions. Since its adoption, the Recommendation has been considered an important set of guidelines to promote teachers’ status in the interest of quality education.

5 October also celebrates the adoption by the UNESCO General Conference in 1997 of the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel.

World Teachers’ Day 2016 at UNESCO HQ will also include the ceremony of the Hamdan Prize awards and a seminar with the Joint ILO/UNESCO Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART) experts.

Drugs Import from India should be Banned in Current Geo-Political Scenerio

Pharmaceutical Review (Reporter); Lahore:Pharmaceutical is the fourth biggest industry of Pakistan. This industry has only flourished with the people’s personal efforts. It’s very discouraging that Govt. and DRAP rules has negative impact on this industry. Corruption elements are responsible for the destruction of pharma industry. Instead of encouraging pharma industry, Govt. is focusing on import. 35% inflation must be a point of concern for Govt. These views are given by pharmacist and legal expert Noor Muhammad Mahar in a conference on Pak-china pharma vision 2030.
All types of medicine’s import should be banned. Present health minister’s husband working as business ambassador in India should be immediately called back. More than eighteen local companies are preparing Hepatitis medicines. That’s why two Indian and one American companies import should be stopped. Herbal export city industrial zones should be established in all major cities like Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar. If Govt. will focus on progress of pharma industry as China did, Pakistan can become number one exporter of pharmaceuticals.
Govt should establish provincial drug regulatory authority instead of DRAP. As in India, there must be district level small pharma industry for pharmacist.
Punjab Govt’s agricultural food and drug authority testing system is not up to mark. There is no proper system of quality checking of food and milk.
Establishment of best labs can generate a system of better quality food and drug.
From last 70 years health sector is deteriorating.
Drug testing lab’s computer are not functional since last three months and state of the art lab is working without director.
